Argument: Intellectual property

Companies should be allowed to protect their intellectual property.

  1. Software is intellectual property.
  2. Intellectual property can be protected by intellectual property rights or patents.
  3. Software can either be protected by intellectual property rights or by patents.
  4. Intellectual property rights only protect certain aspects of computer programmes and therefore protect them insufficiently, whereas patents protect the ideas and innovations in programmes more effectively.
  5. Software should be protected as effectively as possible.
  6. Software should be patentable
